SNOW IN AUSTRALIA
A HEAVY FALL,

SYDNEY, Aug. 25
Heavy snow fell all last night in all of the high sections of the State. Some of the country roads are blocked by snowfalls.
Manly, the Sydney suburb, reports a record low temperature.
The city of Bathurst is snowbound. The telegraph lines are down in some places, and this is believed to be due to snow, which is also reported to have fallen in the Sfanthorpe district in Queensland.
TIMBER STRIKERS.
BATONED BY SYDNEY POLICE
SYDNEY, August 25
A demonstration was made hv timoer strikers against volunteer timber workers at Hudson’s Mills at Glebe. It led to a wild affray, in which the police had te draw their batons. Six arrests were made, including those of two women.
