' It is understood that the Chinese-Consul-General, Mr F. T. Sung, has ■ forwarded •certain deriifinds to the Federal Government relating to Chin-, ese nationals, including the bettering, of the conditions' under, which"'' the Chinese reside in Australia, and especially regarding the refusal of "naturalisation to those Chinese who were living in the country-previously to the Federation Amendment .of tlie law in this regard, To grant this concession has been declared by the Government to be impossible.
