BURMESE IDOL MYSTERY.
LONDON, June 29. ■ Burglars stoic a Burmese idol hut ignored jewellery worth several thousand pounds in a mysterious raid on home of Lady (Arthur) Herbert at Loldbrook, Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, early on Thursday. They forced a window on the ground floor and locked Lady Herbert in tlio room on the first floor where she was sleeping. They then searched several rooms. The idol,' which is 22 inches high and curiously carved of wood, was in tlie hall. The burglars took it and left ihe house without disturbing any oi the valuable contents.
