That there is as great a need as ever for the work of patriotic societies was stressed by the chairman, Mr' Clark, of the Otago Society at the annual meeting to-day, the fact being that men discharged apparently fit were in advancing years crumpling under tb-j strain. During its existence the Society had expended, £174,615.
