A AIOST FLAGRANT CASE. (By Telegraph —Press Association). INVERCARGILL, January IS. What was described by the Magistrate fife the worst and most flagrant case of its kind lie had ever dealt with, was ’ heard in the Police Court to-day," when Thomas , Jackson Smith, a trapper,"Was charged with taking and with killing "wood' pigeons, kakas, wokas, and a South Island crow. The' latter is an exceedingly rare native bird, and. in convicting Smith, the Magistrate said that if he had the power to do. so he would have considered . sending Smith to, prison for destroying this bird. Smith’s operations were"' carried out at Ste Wart Island. Fines totalling £7O were imposed by the Alagistrate.
