OBITUARY
W. R. KETTLE.

GREYMOUTH, Nov. 24
William Robert Kettle, the wellknown merchant, died this morning at tho age of 74 years. He was horn in London and arrived with his parents at Greymouth in 1874. He subsequently started business as a general merchant and was, during his career, Mayor, Chairman of tlio Harbour Board, Grey Education Board and Hospital Board; President of the Chamber of Commerce, and served on numerous local bodies and societies: He was prominent in district commercial concerns, Racing and Trotting Clubs, was 1 :a Freemason and a Druid- and Chairman of the Greymouth “Evening Star” Company. During the war hefwas a prominent member of the Grey Patriotic Society. He visited Honolulu for the Press Congress in 1923. . He celebrated his golden wedding. this, year and is survived by a widow, two.‘daughters and one son.
