HOSPITAL DAY

A meeting of the ladies and gentlemen who are carrying out the above appeal met last evening, Mr J. J. Breeze presiding. Reports were received from various sources promising support. Mr J. McKay, Chairman of the Jlarihari School Committee wrote agreeing to put the proposal before the people for support. The Her. Father Finerty advised that the offerings on next Sunday at St. Mary’s Church would be devoted to the fund. The Hokitika Band wrote offering to give a sacred concert on Sunday night. Offer accepted with thanks. St. Paul’s Dramatic; Society offered to give n. performance in aid of the funds. Offer accepted with thanks. All Saints’ Church and St. Andrew’s Church advised that a retiring collection would be taken up at their services next Sunday. Tt was agreed that the Chairman interview the Matron with regard to enlisting the assistance of aTI nurses free from duty on Saturday next. It was resolved that Mr A. hperry, of Greymonth, he asked to sunport the programme on Sunday night with vocal items together with local artists. Arrangements were made for a visit to the country districts at dates to suit the convenience of the canvases who had volunteered foi this work. Messrs Jeffries, Duff and Bruce were appointed a deputation to wait upon the local banking institutions. The meeting then terminated.
