In the Commons Hacking told a questioner that the Dominions in 1926 supplied fifty-two per cent of Britain’s wheat imports and twenty-five per cent meat. The United States supplied 31.8 and 12.8 per cent respectively. Asked whether the Admiralty would consider the advisability of limiting the tenders for the supply of beef for , Pome commands to the Dominion, and the British-grown, Hendlam, said, apart from local contracts at home ports which were restricted to Dominion and Home-grown, the Admiralty ""preferred to adhere to the present practice.
