MR AY. A. VEITCH ELECTED LEADER. AUCKLAND, March 23. At a well attended kind widely-rcpre-sentativo meeting of those interested in the advancement of Liberal principles. held in Auckland last nigbt, tbe lion George Fowlds was voted to the chair. It was decided to re-establish tho New Zealand Liberal Thirty. A permanent executive was elected to take charge of the movement in the Auckland province. It was decided that the work of organisation should begin at once. The meeting was ol a most entlnisiiastic and encouraging character, proving clearly that a large section of public opinion is ready and willing to support the movement. A letter from Mr George Forbes, leader of the National Party, in which he conveyed tlie good wishes ol his party, was received. Air Forbes stated that a meeting of Nationalists would be held in Wellington during next session of Parliament, at which the matter of a united torwaril movement would he considered. Air AY. A. Yeiteh. Wanganui, was unanimously elected leader of the party. Air' Yeiteh. in accepting office as leader, stated that he desired it to be clearly understood that the purpose he had in view v*as the re-establish-ment of the true principles of Liberalism, inherited from John Ballanee, Richard John Seddon and Sir Jospcn Ward. Tlis purpose would he to create a Liberal organisation that would prove worthv of the support of members of the present National Party and all other truly Liberal forces in and out of Parliament. Air Yeiteh gave an undertaking that l,e would forthwith enter into communication with leading Liberals in eaili electorate throughout tlie Dominion', with a view to culling a general conference at Wellington.. at which all matters of policy, principles, organisation. finance and method of selection of cnmlidtiles will ho discus,-ed.
