WHEAT BRICKS.

(To the Editor.) .Sir.—Be fanners’ deputation to Hon. Xosw-rthy, M.P. for Ashburton regarding wheat prices for 19215-27. They want 7s Id a bushel for wheat and now they are trying to hold a pistol to the heads of the Government and demand that price, (live it to us or wc won’t grow it. Why don’t the Government prosecute said larmers lor intimidation. If the workers say they want an extra Is a day—vide last strike of railwav employees in New Zealand—the Government says they are holding up the resources of the country. Just so! If the larmers ol this country won’t grow the wheat, unless they are wet-nursed by a benevolent Government, well it is time to open the hack door and lot Australian wheat come in duty tree. There is only a limited amount of land suitable for wheat growing in the Dominion and the farmers think they have the country by the wool.

To writer’s opinion the said deputation should he given a. short shrift, that is if the present Government has any backbone. and he told to please themselves, grow it or not, hut do not penalize the workers of this country bv charging the ruling rate at present for bread.
