Lonch*oir will resign. FRENCH INVESTORS PANICKY. LONDON. Dec. 14. The “Daily Express’s” Paris correspondent says: "Panic has taken hold of the small French investor. Tho man holding a few-nundred francs is sending orders to sell out French investments, and tmy Saxon ones, such as cupper, petrol, steel, rubber, and indeed anything except home securities. The official brokers and hanks have hurriedly resolved that no orders for foreign shares shall he accepted without a covering amount to the value of forty per cent. Protest meetings arc being held throughout Franco against the Government’s new taxation at which M. Loucheur is denounced. Tax strikes are threatened.
! A SIGN' OF WEAKNESS. PARIS. Dec. 15. M. Briand. held a conference with M. I. nicheur (Finance Minister) late last night. No decision was reached and none will he until after a Cabinet meeting to-day. The "Daily Telegraph” states that M. Dun-hour is willing to amend his proposals, hut this does not inspire confidence. On the contrary it is regarded as a sign of weakness at a time when the country wants a strong man. POSITION MORE SERTOFS. PARTS, Dec. 15. The financial position is growing more serious. Af. Loucheur unexpectedly desiring to remain in office, hut Cabinet to-day will probably request bis resignation, allowing M. Briand to reshuffle portfolios. The same quarters are also urging Af. Caillaux's return.
