ST SAVIOUR’S ORPHANAGES.

APPEAL BV THE ARCHBISHOP. My Dear People;— 1 have been asked to remind you. of the great effort being set on foot in Christchurch during the days that are coming to raise such funds a- shall defray tin* cost of tho new building in connection with St Saviour's Orphanage. Many years ago, Mr Kighion. our Into secretary, raised a large mm. Those moneys were applied _to the buildings at Shirley and the line home for hoys at Timaru. Some of you may remember that when the orphanage was started a good many years ago the children were housed in an old building used for another purpose and we have bad to make additions to it. Now wo bav • ITo children: there are constant applications for admission and there is no room! Our conditions are most unsatisfactory. I mod not si-p and till you why. We have to build and make additions that will serve for years to come and we don't want to get into debt. It will be had if we hav t * to meet heavy interest and sinking funds expenses every year. Our pcoolo have taken up orphanage work wholeheartedly. I want you to raise the necessary sum to pay off the buildings and clear them of debt. Doll t think that I am always appealing to you. It is for the children. From sometimes unpromising material we are making good citizens; we are making good men and women. Some of them have already taken their places in the world. There is no work that appeals more to my people. As the number of vou present is not great I want toil to tell others and help all you can with this noble work. I want everyone to respond and say this:—“Don’t wait till the hour of death before helping and then forget to make a will.
