With the exception of the occasion when the Davis Cup finals were played in New Zealand, there has perhaps never been a better tennis doubles match played in this country than that between the English Davis Cup men and the New Zealand reps played at Thorndon Courts to-day. The English representatives were Beamish and Lowe, the New Zealanders Geoffrey Ollivor and J. C. Peacock. The New Zealanders won a weli deserved victory by three sets to two 6-3, 7-5, 7-9, 3-6, 6-1.
