KAKARAMEA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
A very successful reception was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs A. Wills on Wednesday evening for the purpose of presenting to Mrs A. Carmichael a farewell token of. the local residents' appreciation and affection. A splendid, evening's amusement was provided, the tastes of all being catered for; there were amusing games and some music for the older people and dancing for the young, whilst the more hilarious spirits indulged in noisy card games. Great credit is due to the hostess for the capable manner in which she attended to the entertainment of 60 odd guests. At the conclusion of the evening a handsome travelling rug was presented to Mrs Carmichael, and several leading residents spokfe, voicing the general feeling of regret that she is leaving the district. Mrs Carmichael has been in the district for many years, and ber kindly disposition and sterling character has endeared her to all. She will be sadly missed in the community, especially in church circles, both in Patea and Kakaramea. ACCIDENT.
A rather painful accident, which might have had more serious consequences, occurred in the Kakaramea township to a popular resident, Mr W. Potts, on Wednesday. Whilst rounding the corner on his motor bike the machine skidded and overturned. Mr Potts was somewhat shaken, and his left hand was badly cut, necessitating several stitches.
