PLUNKET SHIELD MATCHES.

WELLINGTON DEFEAT CANTERBURY.

The Plunket Shield match between Wellington and Canterbury was concluded tc-day in fine but dull weather. Canterbury continued their innings, and the sixth, seventh and eighth wickets made a good recovery, and carried the score from 58 to 173. Crawford played a useful innings for 33, and Young was again not out with 19. Sandman gave a bright display for 37. The last two Avickets failed to add to the total, and Collins, who went on to bowl at the end, cleaned up the tail, securing three wickets for five runs. Wellington wanted 91 to win, but after Baker and Hiddleston had put on 43 five wickets fell cheaply to Mcßeth and Patrick, who bowled splendidly. Holland and McGirr then made a stand and passed the total. The end was very exciting, as the batsmen had to fight for runs. Wellington thus w ron by four wickets. Details: CANTERBURY.
