POULTRY ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL MEETING

Twenty-one members attended the ! annual general meeting of the Hawera, Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Association, held in the Winter Show Buildings on Monday. Mr. G. Grindrod occupied the chair. | Th© secretary reported that the so- ' ciety was formally "resuscitated on October 13, 1922, and opened with 18 members. During the year 13 meet- ' ings had been held, also three ama- ! teur judging competitions and two ' demonstrations of caponising, and the ; present members numbered J55. All j the meetings have been well attend- | ed, and the thanks of the society are due to Messrs. C. Cudby, A. Barley, and A. Gray for lectures; Messrs. J. B. Wilson and Mr. J. Norfolk for demonstrations ; and Messrs. C. Cudby, ( r. B. Wilson, and Don. Stewart for acting as adjudicators at the judging j competitions. As the result of the ' canvass made to the public for special ' prizes for the poultry section of the i Winter Show the society were enabled ; to present cash and trophies to the value of £32 ss, and if it had been | possible to advertise these extra spe- j pfels more widely the accommodation for poultry at the show buildings would have been fully taxed. The generosity of all who contributed to the above list will be fully appreciated by all members, and should be an incentive to them to take an active part in the movement and help to make the society self-supporting. The balance-sheet showed a surplus of assets over liabilities to the extent of #18 3s 3d, with cash in hand £3 7s 3d, and in view of the extraordinary expenses incurred in resuscitating the society is considered very satisi factory.

After discussion the report a»nd bal-ance-sheet were adopted, and the following officials were elected for the ensuing year: President. Mr. C. Cudby; vice-presidents, Messrs. A. Barley, J. B. Wilson, and ©on. Stewart; secretary and treasurer, Mr. F. W. Wilson; auditors, Messrs. A. Snrftgg and G. H. Kent: committee, Messrs. H. A. Bryant, W. Moore, F. Wasley, V. L. Warner, M. Hicks. W. Wasley, G. Grindrod, and C. J. Bilton: trustees, Messrs. G. Grindrod, A. Barley, and G. H. Kent.
