SOLDIERS' APPRECIATION

Members of the executive of the Auckland Returned! Soldiers' Association had the sad duty on. Monday evening of wafting upon Lady Nolan to hand to her an illuminated address which was in course of preparation for presentation to her husband, Sir Robert Nolan, at the time of his death. The address came from the JNew Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association, which had desired to express the appreciation of all New Zealand soldiers of the unremitting and self-sacrifieii*g labours of Sir Robe»fc Nolan in London during the whole period of the Great War.

In handing Lady Nolan the address, Mr. E. W. Inder (president of the association) said that had General Sir Andrew Russell (the Dominion president) been in New Zealand, he would have been present. The address wag not only an expression of appreciation of the soldiers who returned, but also of those who had not. Their periods of lieave and convalescence had been brightened by the kindnesses they had received at the club in Russell Square. Lady Nolan's son-in-law, Mr. H. R. H. Chalmers, replied on her behalf.
