WELLINGTON, Aiig. 4. A representative match between Wellington and Wairarapa was played as a curtain-raiser to the inter-island game. On the day both teams were evenly matched, and no score on either side was a fair indication of the relative merits of the teams on a ground inches deep in liquid mud. It was in the main a battle between th© forwards, although the backs, under most adverse conditions, at times handled cleverly. In the first half Wairarapa had a slight advantage, but in the second spell Wellington were a little superior. Prominent Wellisgton players were Porter, Duncan, White, the pick of the Wairarana tea-m being' Donald, Harvey. F. Booth, E. Booth and Candy.
