A. iiosiery establishment in the Champs Elysees sued )her to recover £10, the <:ost of a parcel of stockings which the iirm alleged Mdlie Chenal ordered. The stockings were an out size, "being fitted Tvith an'elastic device to prevent them Bursting when used on exceptionally -stout legs. Mademoiselle Chenal indignantly denied that she could ever have -ordered such goods. After hearing the evidence of both < parties, the judge decided that he must personally see if the stockings fitted. The evidence of his eyes convinced him that they could never be of any use to ."IVfdlle Chenal, and a verdict was given ' Ha her favour. 1
