The second event ot the championship (the short head and yarding eon\pet.tion) concluded this afternoon and resulted: O. J. Dunlop's (Hawera) Lad, 56 points, 1; T. Leahy's (Waitara) Spark, 55 points, 2; W. V. Mclntyre's (Mangatuna) Chief, 54 points, 3; L. B. Green's (Ashhurst) Boss, 53 points, 4. The championship huntaway >vas not completed during the day. A presentation was made to Mr. A. d Morton, retiring chairman of the executive, after many years' service,several speakers paying testimony to the splendid services Jie had rendered in fathering the association. McGlaahan, of Kereru, will be the championship judge in 1924. At the annual meeting, amongst t.h« business done was the following: — I . ALTERATION OF RULES. Some time was devoted to remitis dealing with alterations to the rules, which were dealt with as follows:— 1. Class 11., Gate.—The word "left" be rescinded and the following substituted: "Can be opened from either side," Also rescind the following: "Competitor may use a stick not ox ceeding 3ft in length j nail ela^sem."— The first part of the remit was rejected and the .second agreed to. 2. Class 11., Hurdles.—The following be rescinded: "Through which sheep must he put from right." and the following substituted : "That hurdles b*> placed in centre of chain drive, through which sheap may be put from either side.''—Carried. 3. Rules and regulations.—Rule four be rescinded, and the following be substituted: "A competitor may enter any number of dogs in any class.'V—Carried. 4. For sheop dog {rials at agricuf tuval and pastoral shows and sports Entries must be accepted from any person who is eligible to compete at any association dog trials. In the event of an A. and P. association refusing to comply with this rule, their application for permit be refused. —Lost. The meeting approved of the grouping of clubs as follow: — North Auckland group: All clubs north of Auckland. Main Trunk group: Mofvwhango, Mataroa. Raetihi, Matiere, Kaiteike. Te Kuiti;, Waitomo Caves, Te AkarL and Waikato clubs. Taranaki group: Awakino, Ohura, Egmonfc, East Road, Tarata. Wanganui group : Wanganui, Waitotara, Waverley. Gisborne g*>up: Poverty Bay. Whatatutu, Waimata Valley, "Cape Runaway, Opotiki, Tolaga Bay, Whakatane, Te Araroa, Ruatorea, Matawai. Central Hawke's Bay group: Wairoa, Central Hawke's Bay.
