GOOD PRICES AT NEW PLYMOUTH

The week of annual sal«s of pedigree Jersey cuttle in North, Taranaki was brought to a conclusion on Friday, i says the News,, when an offering from I the members of the New Plymouth Jersey Breeders' Club was put under the hammer at the A. and P. showgrounds, Uanvakaiho. | In all 47 animals were offered for sale, 41 finding purchasers at a total !of £2348 6s 6d, an average of over £56 ! for the 41 heifers sold, a three-year-old cow offered by Mr. F. AY. Cornwall bringing in £75 12s. Buyers were present from all parts of the North Island and from the South Island. < The quality of the animals offered was very good, and -although bidding slackened oft" at times, there was keen competition for animals of noted pedigree. Top price was realised for Mr. F. W. Cornwall's Oakland's Queen Bee, which found a purchaser at 110 guineas. Maori Cloudy, one of Mr. Harper Lepper's heifers, ran Oakland's Queen Bee a close second for top price, being taken at 108 guineas. The only other animal to run into three figxires was Mr. Cornwall's Oakland's Rose Bud, which went to a Christehurch buyer at 100 guineas. . i The sale was conducted by Messrs Newton King, Ltd.. in conjunction with Messrs Wright, Stephen son and Co., Wellington, the auctioneers being Messrs Ken Kirk and J.
