Dr Thomson, who retains Ins position as medical superintendent, was given an increase in salary of £100. The death of Mr. F. Green occurred m Stratford yesterday morning at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Rowell Hamlet Street. Deceased who was 80 years of age, arrived in the shin Hawea from England in 1874. For the greater part of his life he lived at Oakura. Mr W. Green, of Pembroke Road, is a son of deceased, who leaves three sons and three daughters. On the eve of his departure for Hawke's Bay, having retired from the service of the Stock Department, a number of personal friends of -Mr. J. G. Hodge, in moving the reelection of Mr. F. Mills, said that all would agree that Mr. Mills had done good work. Speaking in appreciation of the compliment of his re-election. Mr. Mills said that he often wondered if h« should give the time necessary, and if he were really the man for the position. He thought the results were such that he felt sometimes discouraged. He really would have been hand to persuade but for the success at the north end of the province during the last week. If he felt that the farmers would come along he would bo encouraged to continue.
