COUNTY RATES.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —If your report of the Greater Hawera meeting is correct, and, knowing your paper as I do, I have, no hesitation in accepting it as correct,. I read that the rates on a £1200 property i? £4. Now, sir, either Mr. Murdoch has made a mistake, and a serious one, or else we have been charged too much rates for years past. My property is valued at £500, and my rates are £2 12s 3d; that works out "at over £6 on £1200. I would like either Mr. Murdoch to correct his statement, or a refund of all the rates that have been oversubscribed. —I am, etc., RATEPAYER.
