METHODIST MINISTERS

I TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. i

Clergymen from New Plymouth, Inglewood, Stratford, Manaia, Kaponga, Waitara, and Eltham attended the quarterly council at Eltham on j Monday. . Arrangements were made for the' visit to this district of Rev. J. R. and Mrs. Metcalf, missionaries on furlough from the Solomon Islands, and also the General^ Foreign Missions secretary, Rev. W. A. Sinclair, during June. ' 1 The holding of a Bible class camp was fully considered, and the Young People's Committee recommended to endeavour to organise one prior to the North Island camp at Wanganui. A ! convention for the deepening of spiritual life, to which all the lay officials of the circuits are to be invited, is also contemplated. The question of dancing amongst our young people was discussed, and whilst I it was generally conceded, that in it- j self dancing was a harmless and pleasurable amusement, the dangers associated with promiscuous public dances were such that the time had come when the Dominion Conference should take the matter up and give a definite pro- i nouncement on its attitude to this form ' •or recreation. I J .^The election °f officers resulted in Jthe re-election of Rev. W. J. Elliott .(New Plymouth) as president and the Itev. W. Avery (Waitara) as secretary. j —Argus.
