! The official opening of the bowling , green took place oh Saturday last, when there was a good attendance of players from the Rahotu, Opunake, Auroa- and Manaia Clubs. Mr. R. Lambie, president, welcomed the visitors, and Miss M. • Lambie having thrown" the jack the usual game, President v. Vice-President, was played. Lafbie 24 v. R. Lambie, A.' Campbell, Carter, McDonald 19. Totals: President 89, Vice-President At. the conclusion of the game Mr. J. Hickey, on behalf of the visitors, thanked the local club for the pleasant afternoon and the ladies for the dainty afternoon tea provided. The custom-} ary cheers terminated a very pleasant afternoon.. _ A meeting, of delegates of the clubs belonging to the western division was held the same afternoon. It was decided to hold the Christmas tournament at Manaia, the management of the same to be in the hands of the Manaia ClubMr. Innes, of Manaia, w® appointed secretary of the division to* arrange inter-division games, etc. j Banner matches will commence the first week- in November in this- division.
