HIGH SPEED ATTAINED. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—.iUKVRIGHT NEW YORK, Oct. 14. At Mount Clemens, Michigan,. Lieut.. R. L. Maughan, piloting an army Curtiss high-speed pursuit 'plane, won the Pulitzer special trophy, travelling 160 miles at 207 miles per hour. This Is a new speed record. Lieut. Maitland, piloting a sister 'plane, was second. He also established a world's record, travelling 50 kilometres at 2161-10 miles per hour. The 100 and 200 kilometres records were also broken by various flyers.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
