ANGLING.

The season has- opened most successfully, and anglers are reaping the results of, the hard and consistent work of the energetic president and committee, by which the streams have been so well stocked. A sight of Mr. Goodson's dam last week would have enlightened any credulous person. As the water was drawn off the dam appeared a mass of yearling trout. The remarkable feature was the diversity in size of the fish. Apparently it is the law of natui'e .operating. Some are nearly double the size of others, due to the fact that they grew stronger and were able to get more of the food so liberally provided. The survival of the fittest has operated,, as it does with all animal I life in its natural surroundings. These -fish now go out to provide soort for the disciples of the gentle Isaak" though probably the cynic would say that "butr-hered to make a Roman holiday" would better meet the case." . "

One of the best creels taken on the opening day was ten good rainbow trout.

(From Our Otakeho Correspondent.) The local anglers have been trying their luck with the rod once more/ but so far I have only heard of one good catch, that being 13 rainbow trout taken from a rjver well up in the bush. Two brothers" were the lucky anglers.
