A furious vendetta has raged intermittently for over a century between ■i&e Corsican families, PaolettL : and -Sarti, living in the village of Ollivese, near Ajaccio'. Seventy men, twenty women and several children have been ■killed during the last fifty years beJore a. peaceful settlement was brought v;*bout by the engagement of a sixteen- ': .year-old Paoletti (girl to a t^enty-year-:^W member oft the' Sarti f&mily. ' : It was discovered that the girl had flirted with other boys in ;fche village. A ' heated discussion reacted'in-did Sarti stabbing a Paoletti '£b death.': finally v "three more were killed and four severely wounded.
