NEW ZEALANDERS IN SYDNEY

BY CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYEIGHT SYDNEY, May 1. Aitken was the only New Zealander in action at the tennis carnival who received a forfeit in the singles match. He lost the doubles with Graham against Anderson and Spratt 6—B, 4—6, 6—2, \ 5—7. Aitken failed to dovetail with his partner's play, but was responsible : for the lion's share of the work.^ He has not yet struck form, but his driving and smashes were excellent. The victors' play wa*s characterised by steadiness. Anderson is a brother of the Davis Cup lepresentative. ■ The ladies take part in the championships on Tuesday.
