The Canadian Seigneur is now due ax Auckland on May 29 from Norfolk, and is timed to reach Wellington on June 2, and New Plymouth a few days later. According to the Christchurch Su^, advice ha.s been received that the firm of R. S. Lamb and Co., Ltd., owners oi the Ultimata and the Joan Craig, wellknown intercolonial colliers, have purchased a steamer considerably larger than the Ihumata, which is intended for the Wanganui service. It- is stated that the new steamer is 700 tons larger than the Ihumata. The new vessel is to be put on not only because of the development of the trade, but principally because the incraesed depth of water at the entrance and in the 'channel to Ca.«te!cliffe enables a much larger vessel to be used in the trade.
