AMERICA'S TARIFF
WASHINGTON. April 26. Senator Simmons, speaking in opposition to th« Tariff Bill, said that if it was passed the indignation of the country would assume greater proportions than m the case of the Payne Aldrich law. He added that in spite of increases in agricultural products, farmers would pay five dollars in increased prices for every dollar they gained through the tariff. He denounced it as the worst Bill which had ever crossed the threshhold of the Senate, and concluded by saying that while 'the Treasury may gain 350 million dollars in duties, these same duties will tax the people by billions.
