H.M.S. NEW ZEALAND.

RELICS COMING TO THE

DOMINION

Relics of the battle-cruiser New Zea-J land are to reach New Zealand shortly. They include the shield with, the ship's coat-of-arms, formerly displayed in front of the bridge, the scrolls with the cruiser's battle-honours, and a piece of one of the turrets which was shot through at Jutland. There appears to be some doubt about the disposal of certain other articles that are of interest to the people of the Dominion, such as the Maori mat and greenstone tiki that were-worn by Captain Halsey and later by Captain Green whjsn the battlecruiser went into action. Sir John Green is now Admiral Superintendent at Rosyth, where the New Zealand has been lying pending delivery to the shipbreakers, and it is anticipated that he will see that the possessions of the ship find a worthy resting-place. The disposal of the relics that are coming to New Zealand is a matter for future decision. The Dominion Muse\yn, already much overcrowded, may not be regarded as a suitable place for the reception of the relics. There is plenty of room in the new Parliamentary Buildings, and a place might be found for the shield in the main entrance hall, which is now approaching completion, or in the chamber of the House of Representatives.
