FIRE AT PALMERSTON N.

TWO SHOPS DESTROYED

(BY TWI-KOMU'TT —PRKSS ASSOCIATION.) PALMERSTON N., April 20. Just before 2 o'clock this morning a fire was discovered in a wooden building on the western side of .the Square. Two shops were destroyed, the occupants being J. H. Watt, cycle dealer, and Joe Kwong on, fruiterer. A small portion of the contents was saved. Watt's stock was valued at £1150, and was insured for £80. The Chinaman had no insurance. The premises of the Universal Supply Company, adjoining, were badly damaged by water, and goods valued at over £1000 were rendered useless. The premises destroyed were the property of the Waldegrave Estate, and were insured for £1150.
