DECEIVING CHINESE.

CHRISTCHTJRCH, March 27.

As the result of a disturbance in a Chinese restaurant yesterday, two Europeans were arrested. The allegations of the occupants were that the men had entered the premises, stating that the Chinese were gambling, and that one Chinaman was relieved of a sum of money. The men, Leonard Wilkinson and Thomas Ferguson, appeared before the Court this morning, charged with stealing 5s 6d and several Chinese coins. Wilkinson was also charged with having assumed the designation of a detective. The case was adjourned. Bail was allowed.
