ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY EXHIBIT.

For each year's show since its inception the society has had the, corner at the end of the machinery hall and consequently have been unable to effectively display the many fine specimens of bird and animal life which they poeseas-^a veritable museum, of which any society .might be proud. But this year they have been fortunate in securing a whole bay in the Lloyd George Hall, and they certainly have taken the fullest advantage of the opportunity tci show what a live body they are and how well they cater for the sporting public. The bay in which the exhibit is shown is so well got up with fern, titree nikau and greenery that looks like a piece of woodland scenery in which many varieties of bird life are living. There is to be seen the kiwi, pukeko, bittern, pheasant (cock and hen with ch:cks), wood pigeon, shag, penguin,1 ducks of various breeds, "crow, stiltT mopoke, grebe, starting, tiui, quail, . robins, fern birds, silver lyes, cuckoo, and a collection of various species. In the pens may be seen alive 'pheasants, : pukeko, opossum, grey ducks, Brazili- ; an and Canadian geese. At one sido are the water boses containing trout fcrom the ova to the n.tne months brown trout, perch, bronze and gold cam, and ; nine months rainbow trout. Trout of record size are preserved and shown to demonstrate/ what the streams are capable of.
