ELTHAM I. v. STAR 1

There 'was quite an old time attendance to witness this match at Eltham on Saturday, and although at times a little ragged some very good football was shown. E,ltham had the best of the opening exchanges, ibui from a- speculative kick iby Bri'.sco, the Eltham 'back, the itiall rebounded off Bowler, who, having no one to beat galloped o^er the lane and grounded the ball between the posts. The try was converted. Eltham. worked hard, but without avail, •Dean and Jones, of the Star team, repeatedly saving. In the second halt" Elthaan at once became aggressive, and almost continually .pressed their opponents, ibut faxilty passing and good 'back play nullified: their efforts until the last quarter of an hour, when Gibson got over, ibut Benton failed to goal. Continuing the pressure MeSweeney scored a try, Brisoo failing to increase the points. Just before time Benton goaled from a free kick, Eltham thus winning iby 9 points to 5. The Eltham. team was a much improved one than in the last match. Brisco, ,but for one mistake, played a good game, and others showing good form were iMcClymont, MeSweeney, (Little, Hickey Benton and Langlands. For Star, Jones, I Dean, Bowler, Broughton and Wolf? I were prominent. OLD BOYS v. OKATO. * The country club made a good struggle during the first spell, and only two tries Were scored against them at i half time.
