MR. MASSEY'S VIEWS

DEFENCE IN THE PACIFIC

ANGLO-JAPANESE AGREEMENT

BY CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT

VANCOUVER, May 6

Mr Massey, in the course of an interviewed, said that the British Dominions bordering on' the Pacific Ocean must strengthen their naval defences.

Commenting on the Anglo-Japanese agreement he said that there could be no objection to renewal provided the Dominions were given the right ito choose their own citizens. Any 'attempt to relieve New Zealand of her mandate over the Pacific Islands or to change the Samoan policy would be intolerable.
