FURTHER RETURNS
Further census returns for Taranaki ire available. The postmaster at Stratford last night supplied the folowing return;: — Hawera County (excluding Hawera 3orough and Normanby town district)— Males 2536,, females 2438, total 4974. Fhe previous census showed a total of ' 4599. Kaponga town district. —Males 201,.' emales 199, total 400. EJtham County.—Males 1732, females 1394, total- 3126. The riding details ;or the Eltham County as as follows:— Kaponga riding—Ma'.es 347, females 245. total 601. Mangatoki rid inc.—Males 643. fema'es 537, total 1180. South r.idtng.—Males 271, females 214. total 485. Eltham riding.—Males 378, females 343. total 721. The population of Pa.!nierston North is 15.648, an increase of 2819 on that recorded at the last rensus. A telegram from Napier says . the population of Napier borough is now 14.370. of whom "6940 are males and 7430 females. The 1916 figures were 5867 males and 6820 female.?, a total of 12,690.
