MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
TO-DAY'S SITTING
To-day's sitting of the "Miigistrace's | Court was taken by fties.^ xU. Dixon and C. A. Clarke, J.P.s Alice White and F. J. Andrews were each fined 10s, with costs, for permitting stock to graze on the public load contrary to the Normaiiby Town Board's by-law. Huia Kai Thompson was charged with the theft of one dozen pieces of pastry and t«"o pounds of butter, valued at £2, the property of the Haweia Peace Committee. The defendant pleaded guilty. Mr Dixon said that as he wa& chairman of the Peace Committee it would be better if the ease were heard by the magistrate, and the hearing was accordingly adjourned for a week. A prohibition order was issued against a local resident. Judgment was entered for pla'ntiffs, with costs, in the following undefended cases:—Farmers' Co-op. Society v. G. Manaia, £7 9s; Nga Kohu Per a v. J. CaiT, £15 Is; Ettie Morris v. J. G. H. Blanc, £8. Several cases were adjourned until next week as they were beyond the jurisdiction of the Justices. In the Juvenile Court the 15-year-old boy who placed some shovels upon the railway line near Manutahi, was convicted and ordered to be of good behaviour, arid to> come up for sentence lin six months if called upon.
