The American Amateur Athletic Union ruled that Fanny Duraek and Mina Wylie cannot appear in the United States under amateur auspices because the swimmers insist that their managers' expense^ should be defrayed by clubs where they appear. Many sportsmen have entered a protest against the Athletic Union's action, decj.ir nnr it a blot on the United States' recor.l for fair play.
