SELECTION OF RHODES' SCHOLAR POSTPONED.

DUNEDIN, May 22. j Advice was received to-day that the selection of the New Zealand Rhodes' ; scholar had been postponed till October 8 in order to give students on active service an opportunity t/> present their claims. The position "with reference to the 1851 scholarship is somewhat similar. The University Senate, which meets at Wellington this week is expected to postpone the award for a considerable time. CHBISTCHUROH, May 21. The Canterbury College candidate for the Rhodes' Scholarship is Norman Macdonald Richmond, 8.A., son of the late Mr W. M. Richmond, solicitor. An 1851 Exhibition Scholarship, the I award of which has been suspended ! during the war, is also offered oy the New Zealand University this year. The candidate from Canterbury College is Eric Arnold Rowe, M.Sc, son of Mr T. W. Rowe, the well-known Christchurch solicitor.
