CHARGE AGAINST LICENSEE.

At the Magistrate's Oourt, Opunake yesterday, before Mr A. Crooke, S.M Alfred Charles Walshe,«licensee of the Opunake Hotel, was charged that he did on Sunday, April 13th, allow liquor to be consumed on the premises by Arthur John Crawford, Walter Scott Dudley. The Magistrate accepted this contention and dismissed the informations against the licensee and also against the three persons for being on licensed premises. CHARGED WITH THROWING A STONE. Arthur John Crawford, who was defended by Mr ODea, was also charged with throwing a stone in Opunake to the danger of the Rev. Charles Strand and-others. The stone was thrown on April 13th, a few days after the licensing referendum. The stone rolled acrossth© road into the water table and did not cross the footpath on which werepassing the Rev. Strand and three or four todies. Counsel for the defendant submitted that as the stone did not reach the footpath that there was no> case to answer.
