IBY I'iii.EOHAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION 1 WELLINGTON, April 7. The difficulty at the Roslyn Woollen Mills has apparently reached an acute seage. In the beginning twelve men and two boys left their employment as a protest against the decision of the .management to employ a liotv sub-fore-man. A mass meeting of the mill hands -on Saturday night unanimously decided that negotiations for settlement be opened up. n atao resolved, with oue dissentient, in iavor of supporting the hands who are out.

DUNEDIN, April 7. The Green Island coal miners held a «top-work meeting on Saturday to consider the question of obtaining improved conditions. Delegates were appointed to wait on the employers, but I no meeting took place. Another stopwork meeting was held to-day, and no work was done. One of the principal changes desired by the men is apparently that the companies do the trucking at the mines, and another is that the men should fill the boxes at the face as the coal falls, instead of sorting it into three classes. No settlement was effected. OAMARU, April 7. A largely attended meeting of the Oamaru branch of the A.S.R.S. diecussed the new scale of pay and conditions of work proposed by the management and branch, and unanimously decided that the new proposals were not satisfactory. PALMERSTON N., April 7. The Palmerston branch df the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servant® unanimously resolved to stand by the Engine Drivers', Cleaners' and Fire-1 en's Association- in any action that may be decided upon to obtain better working conditions. The branch is dissatisfied with the conditions under the j new regulations, and has circularised the branches asking for co-operation.
