THE PROJECTED NEW SCHOOL

On Thursday Messrs Masters (chairman), C. A. Wilkinson, M.P., Trimble, White and Eaves, members of "the ,Taranaki Education Board, and Messrs R. A. Browne and Grey (staff), and Mr Moore (foreman) visited the school for the purpose of conferring with the school committee regarding the site of the new school.

They were met_.on arrival by Messrs Preston. Madgwiek and Paine, of the committee, and shown, over the ground, and a position acceptable, to all was eventually decided on. The visitors also inspected two sections adjoining the schoolground which, they propose to. acquire so as to complete the block held by the Board. The question of closing the street between the two sites was also discussed, and it was arranged that a member of the Board interview the Town Board on the matter, and if necessary the Town Board will arrange a meeting of ratepayers to discuss it. It is tbe hoped that the ratepayers will interest themselves in thi* important matter and have the questlion settled definitely one way or another.

The Board's foreman informs me that the work on the new school will start immediately. The building is to be in concrete, and material will commence to arrive on Monday next. This, will k6, g<?°d news for Parents and children, who have had so long to put up with, to say the least, very unpleasant surroundings, Mr _S. Moore, chairman of the school committee, was unfortunately unable to be present yesterday owing to illness.
