DEMONSTRATION IN AMERICA. WORKERS' PLEDGE. (Consul's Message—By Wireless.) SYDNEY, Sept. 4. New York. —In every city "of the United States hosts of labor marched in honor of National Labor Day. The processions, made up of every branch of wotkmenj showed, by decorated implements and tools, the signs of unity, of the. tremendous force of America's labor army, of the millions backing up their brothers bearing rifles overseas in freedom's cause. Typical of the spirit of Labor Day inesssages from leaders of labor to the ._ workers is the following from Mr Timothy Shea, acting-president of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen: "We are proud of the unselfish purpose actuating the entry of the United States into the present world-war, and to the realisation of the motive in participating in this appalling conflict. We pledge our lives, fraternity, and our sacred honor to the end that liberty, fraternity and equality be established throughout the world politically, socially, economically, and industrially.
