AMERICAN GRIT.

SYDNEY, Sept. 4. The American consular wireless message received 'in Sydney • yesterday says that American courage and grit were exemplified on Saturday night, when units at the front repulsed a German raid without serious loss.. One American sustained 16 machine-gun bullet wounds, but fought on. He probably holds the American record for simultaneous wounds. Another American was badly wounded in the stomach from fragments of a grenade, and had his nose blown off. He continued to fight, and had almost to be forced to a dressing station.
