UNSUITABLE PROPAGANDA.

MINISTRY OF INFORMATION CRITICISED. (Received Aug. 5, 1 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 4. The Committee on National Expenditure criticises the Ministry of information regarding expenditure on propaganda. - much of which was ineffective and unsuitable. The committee states that publishers were unnecessarily subsidised by thk Ministry, and large purchases of books were made on unfavorable terms- also that £126,000 were paid for cables to Keuter s without a written agreement. The committee points out that the managing director of Reuters is a high official in this Ministry. The committee further* condemns lavish expenditure on entertaining visi-tors.—Aus.-N.Z.
