ESTIMATES FOR THE YEAR.
A special meeting of the Eltham Borough Council waa held on Friday night for i3ie purpose of considering the estimates for th© year, there being present, Mr T. B. Crump (Mayor), Crs. Whiteford, Tayler, Carman, Ballantine, White, Judd and Parrott. An apology was received from Cr. Beesley.
The estimates were taken in committee and afterwards confirmed in open Council as under. —
Estimated Expenditure: Balance, March 31, 1918, £6765; administration, £640; general, £805; subsidies, £384; Town Hall (dr. balance £1031, expenditure £774), 1805; pictures, £1001;, gaswlorks, £2898 ;ihunicipal buildings,- £265; interest and sinking fund, £1635; publio works, £3170; total, £19,368. Estimated receipts: General, £683; Town Hall, £1695; gasworks, £2890; rates (general and water), £3487; special rates, £1209; accounts outstanding, £1956; accounts in credit (gas and interest), £657; total, £12,937; dr. balance 31st March, 1919, £6431; grand total, £19,368. The Mayor gave notice to move that the following rates be struck:—General rate, l£d in the £. Special rates: Street improvement loan, (£6592, 1916), id in thf» £: street improvement (water and drainage extension, £6500), 5-32 d; Public Hall, offices and library (£6000), id: Public Hall offices (supplementary, £3800), 5-32 d; general street improvements (£3500), Jd; Eltham town loan (over portion of the borough only, £2200), 3-32 d.
