NEW ZEALAND WOOL.

VARIATION OF IMPERIAL CON-

TRACT PROPOSED

(BY TELEGRaPH—PHESS ASSOCIATION ) WELLINGTON, Aug. 2. Further information concerning the disposition of the New Zealand wool at Home, not required by the Imperial authorities for Army and Navy purposes, was given to the Farmers' Union Conference to-day by Mr Lysnar. He said that during the morning the Dominion Wool Committee had met the Hon. Mr Guthrie, in order to consider a cable message received from the Hon Mr Massey in London. The cable, Mr Lysnar said, suggested that instead of half the profit on the surpluiS as provided for in the contract, New Zealand growers should take a quota, calculated on the basis of the profit realised on the Australian purchase. Mr Lysnar added that as no details of the Australian purchase were available, it had been decided to leave the matter m the hands of the Prime Minister to do the best he could. It was also decided to cable him asking him to urge that a strong effort should be made to stop the profiteering that is going on.
