ALLIED FOOD SUPPLY COM-

MITTEE.

SPECIAL DECORATION FOR

ANZACS.

THE IMPERIAL PREFERENCE

QUESTION

LONDON, July 31

The Press Bureau 6tates that the Food Controllers of Britain, France, Italy and America have appointed a permanent committee to study the food supply programmes and to coordinate them, having regard to the available shipping.—Aus.-N.Z. C.A. and Reuter. The King has approved a decoration to mark the Dominion troops' entry into the European war.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. In the House of Commons, Mr J. I. Macpherson (War Office), in announcing the King's approval of a decoration for the AnzacSj said the decoration would be issued by the War Office, but the Government* of Australia, New Zealand and Newfoundland would determine to whom it should be grant- j cd. The decoration will not be issued ! to the Imperial troops, because it is designed to meet the desire of the Governments mentioned to mark the entry of their troops for the first time into a European war. If any other Government should desire a similar recognition for its troops, the question ' will doubtless be settled.—Reuter. Sir R. Borden, speaking at the Savoy Hotel, said it had been decided that neither the Imperial War Cabinet nor the War Conference this year would consider the question of preference. The recent announcement in that con-1 nection was made on behalf of the British Government as a statement of domestic policy.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
